My vegetable garden is producing a ton of green beans this year. And while I love green beans, they’re not a vegetable I normally keep in my dinner rotation, so I’m getting creative with new ways to use them. This air fried green beans recipe is something I created that’s really come in handy. It’s a great all-occasion side dish and a super easy air fryer recipe that goes with just about any main dish. Also, these beans are seriously delicious, and kind of addictive in the same way as French fries…but waaaaaay better for you. You can even munch on them as a healthy snack! Ready to whip up a batch of this healthy side dish? Let’s go!
Ingredients You’ll Need
Fresh green beans. Also known as string beans. Other types of common garden beans such as French beans can also be used. Olive oil. Other high heat oils will work, but olive oil will give your air fryer green beans the best flavor.Salt & black pepper.
Tip: Once you’ve got the basic recipe down, feel free to experiment with adding seasonings to your beans! Garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, curry powder or even chili powder would all work well!
How They’re Made
The following is a detailed photo tutorial on how to make this dish. Scroll all the way down if you’d like to skip right to the recipe!
Start by preheating your air fryer to 400°F.Clean and trim your beans, then place them in a large bowl and add the olive oil. Toss the beans to coat them evenly with the oil.
Arrange the beans in a single layer in your air fryer basket. Mine is really big (my oven has an air fryer!), so I was able to fit all of the beans at once, but many air fryers will require you to cook them in multiple batches.
Air fry the green beans for about 10 minutes, until they’re browned and crispy in spots.Sprinkle your air fried green beans with salt and pepper, then serve them!
Tip: Feel free to sprinkle on the toppings! Try hot sauce, red pepper flakes, vegan Parmesan cheese, fresh herbs or a squeeze of lemon juice. You could also serve them with some soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce on the side.
Leftovers & Storage
Air fryer green beans are best served immediately, but if you do have leftovers they’ll keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3 days.
