Ingredients & Substitutions
Here I explain the best ingredients for my avocado salsa recipe, what each one does, and substitution options. For measurements, see the recipe card.
How To Make Avocado Salsa
Storage & Meal Prep
Sorry, avocado salsa doesn’t store well and is best enjoyed fresh. The avocado will brown within a few hours. However, you can meal prep by mixing all the other ingredients without the avocado, up to 1-2 days ahead. Keep them in an airtight container in the fridge, and just add the avocado right before serving.
Serving Ideas
There are so many ways to enjoy this avocado salsa! Here are some of my favorites:
Chips & Crackers – I grabbed store-bought tortilla chips for convenience this time, but love this salsa even more with my baked tortilla chips. You could also use your favorite crackers (I like flaxseed crackers). Tacos – I used my last batch of avocado salsa to whip up a taco salad, but you can also wrap taco meat in tortillas. It also makes an amazing topping for my taco casserole, taco dip, or even zucchini taco boats. Nachos – Top your favorite chips with my pulled pork or barbacoa, along with shredded cheese. Bake to melt, then finish with a dollop of avocado salsa and some fresh lettuce. Fajitas – Pile this salsa on one of my fajita recipes: chicken fajitas, shrimp fajitas, or even steak fajitas. It adds the perfect burst of flavor! Grilled Dishes – This is the perfect topping for my carne asada or grilled salmon. Eggs – I love adding it to a fluffy omelette, but you can’t go wrong with a spoonful over my cloud eggs.

I’ve tried a few different kinds, and this one has worked the best for keeping an extra avocado half from browning. (I intentionally used whole avocados for my avocado salsa recipe to avoid this situation, but somehow this is still the permanent state in my fridge… lol.)
