Ingredient notes and substitute suggestions

Fresh peaches: Any variety of fresh ripe peaches will work. Sweet and juicy peaches will give you the best result. You can also use nectarine in this recipe. Butter: I have used unsalted butter and added a pinch of salt to it. You can also use salted butter and skip salt. Salt balances the sweetness of sugar and peaches making these caramelized peaches taste even better. Vegans may use coconut oil or any plant-based butter. Seasonings: I have flavored the peaches with cinnamon and ginger powder. You can also use other ingredients of your choice like vanilla extract, ground cloves, nutmeg, pumpkin spice, etc. Sweetener: To sweeten these peaches, I have used light brown sugar. Honey, maple syrup, palm sugar, or regular white sugar is fine too. Dark brown sugar can also be used.

How to make (step-by-step instructions)?

To make this simple recipe, just follow the easy step-by-step instructions given below: Step 1: Cut the peaches in half, vertically, using a sharp knife. Remove the seeds. Step 2: Heat a large skillet and add butter. Let it melt. Step 3: Add brown sugar, cinnamon powder, ginger powder, and salt to the melted butter. Step 4: Mix everything. Step 5: Put the peach halves on top with cut side down. Cook on medium heat for 5-7 minutes or until the cut side starts turning golden brown. While the peaches are getting cooked, brush the top side also with some sugar-cinnamon butter from the pan. Step 6: Gently turn them over with a pair of tongs and cook the other side too for 2-3 minutes. Your simple and delicious pan-fried peaches with sugar cinnamon butter are ready to be enjoyed!

Serving pan fried peaches

Serve pan-fried peaches hot. My favorite way of enjoying them is with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I just put hot fried peaches in a bowl, top it with a scoop of ice cream, and drizzle some hot sugar cinnamon butter, caramel sauce, or honey on top. Sometimes, I also sprinkle some roasted or caramelized nuts like pecans, almonds, hazelnuts, or walnuts on top. And in less than 15 minutes your dessert is ready. You can create your own delicious treat by serving these skillet peaches with a lot of other things like Greek yogurt, whipped cream, oatmeal, pancakes, and cake.

Storing and reheating tips

Though it’s best to serve these caramelized peaches immediately once they are ready, if you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container for up to 4 days. To reheat, microwave. Or, heat a pan on the stovetop and apply some butter on it. Put the peach halves on top. Heat both sides for 1-2 minutes or until evenly heated.

Recipe tips and tricks

You can also make similar recipes using other fruits like nectarines, apples, plums, bananas, pineapples, etc. Instead of cutting the peaches in half, you can make peach slices and saute them in the butter mixture. Don’t make very thin slices, they will break on getting sauteed. Increase the cooking time if you prefer darker patches and a mild smoky burnt flavor of fried peaches. These sauteed peaches can be flavored with other ingredients like nutmeg, cloves, vanilla, etc. Maple syrup, honey, palm sugar, white sugar, or dark brown sugar can also be used to sweeten these buttery peaches. Vegans may use coconut oil or vegan butter instead of regular dairy butter. You can also use a grill pan instead of a regular frying pan to make grilled peaches. Instead of using unsalted butter, you can use salted butter too but then skip adding salt to it.
