What Makes This Recipe So Good

Quick, easy, light, and delicious. What more could you possibly want? Air fryer frozen taquitos are a fun and simple snack, app, or even a meal (hey, no judgment) for those days when you just can’t muster up the energy to cook anything that’s more involved than opening a bag and pushing some buttons. It only takes about 15 minutes and you don’t even have to defrost them first. Just take them right out of the freezer and plop them right in the air fryer. The best thing about frozen taquitos in the air fryer is the TEXTURE. We’re talking unbelievably crispy, crunchy, hot, flaky taquitos without any deep frying or even really any extra oil at all. You’re welcome to use a little spray oil if you want to take the crunch to the next level, but it’s not mandatory. You can dress up your frozen taquitos any way you like! Don’t get me wrong, they’re pretty much amazing all on their own. I like to mix things up a little every now and then, though, and serve mine with salsas, dipping sauces, queso, or even just a dollop of sour cream. Thank me later.

Chef’s Tips

I mentioned this before, but let me reiterate – the oil? Totally optional! I like my taquitos over-the-top crispy so I give the basket a super light spray, and then I spritz a little more oil on top of the frozen taquitos before sliding the basket back in the air fryer. You can skip it, though, and still end up with delectably crisp rolled tacos, completely extra-oil-free. This method works for any brand, any type, any flavor, any filling, any tortilla, literally any kind of frozen taquito you can find. Corn tortillas, flour tortillas, beef and cheese, shredded chicken, extra crispy, bacon-egg-and-cheese breakfast taquitos (oh yeah, they’re a thing)… seriously, any and all taquitos work here. Not only do you get perfectly amazing frozen taquitos from the air fryer, you can also use it to reheat any leftover taquitos. I know, I know. Who ends up with leftover taquitos?! But it happens. Make too many and want to save some for later? Guests showed up later than expected and the food’s cooled off? Whatever the situation, you can pop the taquitos back in the air fryer and they’ll crisp right back up! I included reheating directions in the recipe card below so you’re all set.
