Today, I am sharing another very quick and easy recipe on my blog that tastes delicious. The recipe is for spicy garlic mushrooms. This dish can be served in a lot of different ways. You can serve it as an appetizer or a side dish with Indian or any other Asian meal. There are a lot of other ways in which these spicy mushrooms can be enjoyed and I have shared a lot of serving suggestions in the post ahead. It’s a vegan and gluten-free dish that gets ready in less than 30 minutes.
Ingredient notes and substitute suggestions
Button mushrooms: White or brown button mushrooms both are fine. Onion: Preferably red onion. Garlic: These are garlic mushrooms and I love garlic so have used a lot of it. However, you can reduce the number of garlic cloves used if you prefer a milder garlic flavor. Coconut sugar: It balances all the flavors of the dish. You can also use brown sugar or palm sugar. Coriander powder: It’s a very flavorful Indian spice made with dried coriander seeds. You can use any other seasoning of your choice to flavor this dish. I personally feel that coriander powder tastes the best in it. Olive oil: You can also use canola or vegetable oil.
Step 2: Saute until the onion starts turning brown. Step 3: Add the chopped white part of spring onion and minced garlic. Saute for a few seconds or until the raw smell of garlic goes away. Step 4: Add red chili flakes, red chili powder, coriander powder, and coconut sugar. Saute for a few seconds Step 5: Add chopped mushrooms. Step 6: Saute on a medium to high flame until all the liquid released by the mushrooms dries up and the mushrooms get nicely cooked. Step 7: Add salt and ground black pepper. Saute for a few more minutes or until the mushrooms start turning brown. Step 8: Finally add lime juice and spring onion greens. Mix everything. Your delicious Indian-style spicy mushrooms are ready to be enjoyed! You can serve them as an appetizer. Or, serve them as a side dish with meals of different cuisines. For an Indian meal, you can serve them with any Indian flat bread like paratha or roti. It can also be served with rice and dal. To enjoy it any other Asian style meal, serve it with fried rice or any noodle dish like chili garlic noodles or veg chowmein. You can also stuff them in wraps or sandwiches. Another way to use these spciy mushrooms is to use them to make stir fried rice or noodles. For that, once the mushrooms are ready add left over rice or cooked noodles and stir fry on a high flame. You can also add a few stir fry sauces to make these dishes.
